Chipotle burrito’s = 2 x BigMac. This shit will kill you.

Ok, I love a SF Mission Burrito, and I will eat them a couple times a month. (Maybe twice a month)  And I will tell you, the 900-1200 calorie burrito I get replaces a meal and 2 snacks a day.  (Hell, I am not even hungry for 6 hrs when I eat one of these beasts)  Whether it is a burrito from Taqueria Cancun, La Altena, or El Farolito, I get a great FRESH burrito made with clean fresh components.  (and did I mention damn tasty!)

Then there is Chipotle.  The fast food burrito of choice, right? [And oh so healthy.  NOT]  Ok, here’s a few facts:  Chipotle burritos are not even close to healthy unless you leave quite a bit out.  The average calorie’s per burrito is over 1000 per 13 inch shell. (13 inch Burritos are the biggest sellers.  A Chicken burrito with Rice, beans, cheese, and Guac has 18 grams of Saturated Fat [50 Grams Total FAT!], 90% the daily allowance.  Add chips and you are at 108% of daily fat intake AND 600 additional calories!  SCARY)  Hell, a Big Mac, one of the worst foods for you, only has 540 calories.  You could eat 2 of these fat bombs and have fewer calories that a single Chipotle Burrito.  Ick.  (And here’s a crazy fact: Take one McDonald’s Big Mac, carefully remove the wrapping, and place it in a blender. Add half a cup of ice and blend into a smooth consistency. Add milk and sugar to taste, and serve in a tall glass. Garnish with whipped cream and drizzled caramel.   Starbucks Venti Vanilla Café Frappuccino Blended Coffee [560 Calories] has more calories than a Big Mac [540 Calories], the fat of a medium order of fries, and more sugar than half a dozen Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. Trying sticking that in your blender. -Tony Horton www.Milliondollarbody.com)

Ok, I am all over the place, gotta bring it back.  Here is the jist, YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH!  I know there are people who swear by the burrito diet, or the subway diet, but theseonly work in fringe cases.  This shit does not work for the majority of people out there. You need to watch what you eat, control what you eat, and eat clean, healthy foods.  (did I mention Exercise?)  Sure you can have a garbage (Chipotle) burrito every now and again, but if you are having more than 2 a month, you had better be making serious adjustments to your diet!  (This holds true to any crappy calorie and fat rich food you may eat)

Sorry for making an example of the crap food which is Chipotle, there are MANY crap foods out there.  95% of fast food is terrible for you (you can always get fresh brewed iced tea or water), as are most foods which come in a box from the freezer section of your grocery store.  (Who the heck believes that eating an entire frozen pizza is a good idea?  Oh, yeah, someone who wants to get huge!)

If you don’t believe me, do a little research, read the nutrition facts of what you are consuming!  Oh yeah, and read “Fast Food Nation” it is very enlightening!  (Read the book you lazy bum, don’t JUST watch the movie!)

If you want to live a well for a long time, fuel your body with the things it needs, not junk and empty calories.  My family is plagued by obesity, so I know the dark side of being overweight.  If you like Diabetes, chronic pain and heart disease, well I guess places like Chipotle and McDonalds should be where you grab dinner every night.  If not….

Dude, I did not give you that nutrition tracker website to lay into Chipotle! Whether or not you think they’re assy is your own opinion ~ I happen to LOVE their guac and will get my healthied up burrito bol a few times a month.

AND they are far superior to most fast food restaurants because of their food with integrity program. (Seriously, I don’t make this shit up, it’s all over their website.) They don’t buy the same craptastic meats that your McDonald’s buys (circa Fast Food Nation). They heavily rely on free-range, no hormone fed meats.

:) 1st, I got the tracker off google. Second, 50 grams of fat is 50 grams of fat. If you want a veggie burrito, more power to ya, as it may be the only healthy thing on the menu.

The scary part is how bad this is for you just in the most purchased form, and that people add to this chips and then a huge empty calorie filled soda.

I believe that you can have a healthier Chipotle mean, but it would be a 7 inch veggie burrito with no chips and an iced tea or water.

So, why then go to Chipotle? you can do way better at home if this is what you will be eating.

So true. You got to know what you are putting in your mouth or you could unwittingly be breaking a law in Texas.

I like Chipotle, and thought I was eating healthy when I went there. I recently looked at the calorie count for a burrito. Wow, I was shocked. The good news for me is that because they are so huge, I started getting the burrito bowl because it’s just easier to eat with a fork. Turns out the tortilla alone has 290 calories so eliminating that helps. Also, I usually end up splitting the thing into two servings so It’s not that bad. Like I said I love Chiptle, but since I’ve been counting calories, I realize I have to be careful about how much I eat and how I eat it.
