Fitness Test for Adults- Remember Gym Class? Like that!

In case you miss the days of getting herded around the track in gym class to participate in the President’s Council on Physical Fitness tests… you’re in luck!

They just launched an Adult Physical Fitness test , which includes things like a mile walk/run, push-up/sit-up tests and flexibility tests, plus a nifty web interface to score your results.

Physical Fitness tests are just one way to track your progress. By now, everyone knows that just stepping on the scale isn’t a true indicator of progress- Depending on your goals, some ways to track your progress might include: taking measurements, tracking bodyfat, monitoring your heartrate, writing down weights lifted, taking photos and/or timing certain activities like distance running, swimming or bike riding.

Rob regularly holds sessions at the house where we run through the P90X fitness test. Please let us know if you’d like to come by… I think we are due to repeat it next weekend or so.

  1. Just as a FYI, the Presidential Fit Test Site does not work correctly. The first time I put in numbers, the script crashed. The second time, it came back sayign I was obese. They are using the standard BMI calculations and not adjusting for lean muscle mass. So, if you are in shape and not skinny as a stick, well, it will consider you overweight.
