Generally I change my shoes every six months, every 250 miles, or when I start getting unexplained shin splints and blisters, whichever comes first. Usually it's the shin splints and blisters.

Consider getting a cortisone shot. I bet they'll put it right in your hip. Once, I had tendonitis at the top of my left foot, and couldn't ski during the first part of skiig season. A podiatrist shot me up, and I was good to go. They can shoot cortisone into just about any body part.

NEW SHOES!
Yeah- if you're running 30/40 miles a week- you need to swap out shoes on a very regular basis. I *think* it's supposed to be every 2.5-3 months. For reals. I sprained my hip once running down the hill between the Bridge and Baker beach because my shoes were worn out.
