Fitness for Real Life…

I’m officially all bibbed up!

September 10th, 2008 by Smurf · 4 Comments

I just signed up for my first race ever, the Glide Floss Bridge to Bridge 12K, which is taking place on October 5.  According to Runner’s World magazine, it is one of the most scenic runs in the country, starting at The Ferry Building (under the Bay Bridge, for those who like things spelled out) and heading down the EMB, through Fisherman’s Wharf, through the Marina Green and Chrissy Field to the Presidio (under the Golden Gate Bridge, for those of you who still need your morning coffee.)  The timing is right in line with where I need to be distance-wise to consider the US Half Marathon on November 2, and just days before we leave for Sherri and AT’s wedding in New Orleans, so I’ll feel (hopefully!) all fit and accomplished heading into a debaucherous week.

In other news, I am down a really solid 5 pounds since starting with the nutritionist.  Looking forward to being down 10 by the US Half Marathon and then getting rid of the last 5 before the end of the year!  It is tough going sometimes, but is becoming second nature.  It’s still the lure of quality cocktails that is the hardest to resist.

Smurf, I noticed how good you looked at our Labor Day picnic..the 5 pounds show and your legs look fantastic! I can’t imagine where a 15-lb loss could come off you…don’t get too skinny now!

Thanks, Hizz! Rob can attest that there is still plenty to get rid of. :)

You’re not the bad guy! I’m just sayin’… there’s plenty that gets hidden.
