Smuggler’s Cove in SF

I have to start with the fact that I am a BIG fan of Martin’s old bar, Forbidden Island in Alameda.  Smuggler’s Cove is his new place in SF, and I have to make mention of a few things.  I like the decor, and the MENU is amazing.  I also understand that it is a VERY COMPLEX menu, and I really like the bartenders working there, but, you can’ t wait 20-30 minutes to get a drink no matter how good they are.

As a Tiki Bar, it is beautiful, and the drinks are amazing.  Also, as it just opened, I know they will improve in their drink to customer time, but  for now, when the bar is full, it is not worth the wait.  Go to Cantina, Bourbon and Branch, or Absinthe.  Or, make the big trip to Forbidden Island, which is ALWAYS worth the ride.

Thanks Martin for opening Smuggler’s Cove, and I can’t wait for you to dial everything in.  Until then, try to show up when the crowd is thin.
