FitLifeSF Challenge- The Halfway Point!

We are 5 weeks (a little more) into the new year… do you know where your goals are? We got in touch with the FitLifeSF Challenge contestants to find out how they were doing, and here is a little bit of an update.

- Jody is our new mom who is following a Weight Watchers eating plan, dancing Go-Go and doing pilates and home workouts.  She has been doing great with her goal of tracking her points, though staying within them has sometimes been a challenge– especially as she deals with her continually-changing postpartum metabolism.  Finding time to work out has also been a challenge, but her go go troupe, The Devilettes, has a major photoshoot and audition for America’s Got Talent coming up and Jody is determined to go into those events with buff arms!

- Margaret is our busy shopkeeper who has been using Netflix to feed her a steady stream of workout videos. She has settled on a few she really likes from “the three J’s”- Jillian Michaels (of Biggest Loser fame), Jari Love, and Jackie Warner (of Bravo’s Work Out fame.)  While she feels a little bad clomping around her apartment early in the mornings, these workouts seem to be working their magic since Margaret’s got good bit of muscle soreness after her workouts. For the next 5 weeks, she may consider making some changes to her diet, including cutting out pizza.

- Lizzie is our aspiring policewoman who is using the 10 weeks to hone her fitness and hopefully land in a police academy.  Lizzie is continuing to push herself with her running, and using her TRX more and really getting some wonderful upper body gains from it.  She’s also made some decisions to put herself and her mental well-being first, which has refocused her for the final 5 weeks’ push.  She’s found that writing down food and increasing the detail on her workout journal is a huge motivator.

- Phillip We didn’t get a detailed update, but Rob and I saw Phillip at breakfast the other day and he said he plans to chat with his trainer about ramping up the intensity of his workouts. Go Phil!

- Smurf I am really proud of how I’ve done against my goals- I’m at 100% compliance with all of them, and am actually rejiggering some to keep the intensity up through the next 5 weeks.  I have found that having a “zero tolerance” policy for certain foods, booze, etc. has really helped me lock it down.  I feel very much like the decision as to what to eat or drink, or whether to work out, was made on January 3, so every time it’s time to eat or drink or hit the gym, I don’t need to decide all over again or re-commit at every choice.  I’ve also finished the coursework and passed the exam for NESTA’s Certified Personal Trainer program and am now diving into their Nutrition Coach program.  It’s been a great 5 weeks, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens as I push past the 5 week mark.

Rob- Rob is still hitting the Insanity workouts, moving into his final 30 days. He’s going to be cleaning up his eating some more in the final 5 weeks to get to his goal weight by March 11– all while juggling the demands of a new job.

Kathy, Lauren- Send in your updates and I’ll get you guys added.
