I love Pink for many reasons… here’s one more!

SF Gate talks to Pink about her P90X workout regime.  If you have seen any video of her show, it is INSANE!  This woman is in incredible shape.

Plus, I love all the work she is doing for marriage equality and general philanthropy.  GO PINK!

Mixing it up, and seeing results

Sometimes you need to change what you are doing.  I like to mix it up every now and again, but some things need to stay consistent.  As much as I enjoy working out to a regimented program, I need to go “off book” once in a while to stay sane.  For my latest 90 day cycle, I am mixing up a number of routines, and putting them together as if I was using Deal-A-Meal.

  • Mondays are still my push up and pull up days
  • Tuesdays are Plyo/Cardio days
  • Wednesdays still are “Arm Heavy”
  • Thursdays are stretching and Yoga
  • Fridays are all about the legs and butt
  • Saturdays are all about the core

When you throw in Thursday nights filled with MMA training and Sundays specific to Sambo, I have a very versatile and fun week of fitness.

I like to cycle by doing 3 complete repeat weeks, then a recovery core week.  The next 3 week cycle holds the same focus, but all new ways to hit the muscle groups, and then another recovery core week.  Then I do it again.  (Yes, I am following a similar cycle to the P90X cycle.  It works for me very well)  The big decision is when I do my next 60 day cardio cycle?  Will it be at the end of this 90 day cycle or will I do another 90 day variant?  Time will tell.

OK peoples… We are back!

Well, after not really doing much over the last few weeks, Smurf and I are back in the saddle.  I have been riddled with distractions; the cruise, 5 weeks of a pulled back, work, the Renaissance Martial Arts Seminar.  Now I am ready to go.  The boozing will be at a minimum, the healthy eating is a major focus again, AND I have my first 3 weeks of workouts all planned.  (I started yesterday)

The plan:

Today was another Fitness Test

After 1 month of Insanity, here are my results!

P90X and Insanity results 1/29/07 to 9/1/09

Ok Peeps, some of you might think these pics are creepy, I am pretty damn proud of the change!  So, deal!

Insanity Week 4! I am still alive!

So, I started my 4th week of Insanity and I have nothing to say but, what a SICK and AWESOME program.

The last 3 weeks have been pretty brutal.  (5 days a week of Max Cardio Training, one Recovery workout, and the 7th day off.  But I don’t take the 7th day off.  Instead of Insanity on Sundays, I go to Sambo, and get thrashed there)  This past month, I worked out all but 3 days, and I am loving the results.  I swear the fat is melting off, and my core is stronger than it has ever been.

Insanity is the real deal!  Next week is the recovery week!  6 Days of recovery workouts!  (I wonder how insane that will be?)

Current Stats:  6’1″ 201 lbs, and getting ripped!

The last day of the 1st week of Insanity.

Ok. This week of workouts was close to unreal. I don’t care if it is cross fit or some uber personal trainer, you are not going to get your ass kicked they way Shaun T. kicks your ass.

Insanity is the perfect companion to P90X as it is the cardio focus that P90X is missing. I do own P90X, Insanity and the Tony Horton One on One’s, and now, I am set for the next 5 years of workouts! (Maybe Longer) I have in my personal collection, the perfect selection of hardcore routines to mix and match as I please. I can do them as they have laid them out, or substitute routines to create weeks from hell!

This is AWESOME. And I get to do all this from home! As a former gym rat, I am thrilled! I really love my life!

Ok, it hit me! Life after P90X!

Today I am officially 3 weeks from finishing my latest cycle of P90X.  I am calling it quits 3 weeks early and I am OK with that.

I have been forcing myself to work out the last week or so, where I usually am looking forward to getting to the house and crushing a whatever workout is scheduled for the day.  It hit me today like a ton of bricks.  I AM SICK OF DOING P90X WORKOUTS!  I need to really mix things up, and do something completely different.

For the record, it has been almost 2 straight years of doing P90X and it took that long for me to burn out.  Impressive!  And even more impressive is that I keep seeing gains and improvements in my fitness level.  Verdict is; P90X Works!  But what next?
