You are reading this because you are one of the normal people who wants to get more fit. I say “get more fit,” because some people want to lose weight, some want to add definition, and some of you want to put on muscle mass. All of you want to improve your fitness level, and are looking for that “magical something” to make it happen.
Well, here’s the secret. 99% of you already have what it takes to get more fit. You are reading this, and this shows me you have the desire to make a change. Now we have to make that desire an action, then a habit.
We’re about three weeks into the FitLifeSF Challenge, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce you to the participants. We have a nice mix of experience levels and goals, so I think the Challenge will serve its purpose of showing that anyone can make significant changes in only 10 weeks if they set their mind to it.
It’s hard to believe it’s the New Year, much less a new decade. I’m definitely feeling bittersweet about this one, but determined to make sure 2010 kicks 2009′s ass. I suppose this is the time for all good bloggers to do some retrospection, introspection and cast the runes for a look into the new year.
I wonder if I’m going to start out all my posts with song lyrics. Hmmm… It’s just turning out that way.
Tonight, I wanted to write about what my goals are for this journey.
Overall, for me anyway, it’s not about a number.
My goal is to get healthy, to feel good about myself, to have more energy, not feel so crappy physically all the time. I have aches and pains someone my age should not have, and I know it’s because of the extra weight I carry every day. I’d like to live a longer, fuller life. I’d like to be as healthy as possible going into middle age to prevent serious health complications. (Photo: Trish circa Size 8 )
Just a quick check-in on my weightloss goals. I hit another milestone today (well, yesterday, but considering I hit it after a 13-mile-run, I figured I’d wait until a good meal, lots of fluids, and a good night’s sleep before celebrating anything.) As of this morning, I’m at 129.6! I don’t think I’ve seen the underside of 130 since sometime in the mid-90′s!
My original goal was to get to 125 by my birthday on December 20, but the trip to New Orleans and getting sick the week after the election pretty much took two weeks out of my goal period. So my new goal is to get solidly in to 127.x by my birthday and see 1-2-5 on the scale at least ONCE before the new year. One pound this week, one pound next and I’m nearly there.
Think I can do it?
What are your pre-New Years goals? I like the idea of the “reverse New Years Resolution”- I figure if I can get to the doorstep of 2009 in a better place through this difficult time, any loose ends should work themselves out in January, surely.
