P90X Doubles Week 1 Done (Beginning a new 90 day cycle)

My addiction continues!  Last week I began my 3rd cycle of a Beach Body 90 day program, “P90X Doubles.”  After completing my 2nd cycle, which was P90X+ (Plus), I was thrilled to start P90X again.  Though the “Plus” was challenging, and I saw great core strength gains, I personally don’t enjoy those work outs as much as the original videos.

One would think that if you have been working out extremely hard for over 1/2 a year, that revisiting an old workout would not devastate you.  (Granted I have been in good to great shape since I was 14)  One would think.  As I am doing “P90X Doubles” this time, my first month is the same as the last time I went through “P90X Classic.”

Yes, I do endorse Beach Body Products

I have been a P90X user since late November 2007, which puts me at near 8 months of using the beach body systems. (This was written on 6/9/2008) I became a coach on 2/25/2008, and since then have spent my time working out, getting my friends motivated, and working with Smurf to get our fitness Blog off the ground. (Ok, there has been a lot of partying, drinking, karaoke, seeing friends, and other life related events)

Now for the comment that you guys may have been expecting,

A new week, a new cycle and a new test for myself

Today starts my 3rd Beach Body Program.  Before I fly out to Vegas, I will finish my day 1(Chest and Back, then Ab Ripper X),  work out and restart my “Phase 1″ P90X Classic session.  In 4 weeks I change up, start phase 2,  and move to my first week of P90X doubles.  (3 days a week are two a day session where the added session is more cardio!)  I should be finishing up the whole cycle somewhere in early September.  More training, harder training, and this time, a bit more of a regimented diet.  Though I do advocate the “work out, eat well, drink well, and enjoy life mentality, when you are training very hard you must feed the beast.  If you don’t fuel your body the right way, the machine breaks down.  I can’t have that, as at the end of this 90 day cycle, I plan on being in the best shape I have EVER been.  Quite the personal challenge I must say.

(And I figure with Ski season around the corner from the end of the cycle, I can use the fall and winter to “maintain”)

Damn I am excited!

Listening to your body

Sure, it figures that I would be writing something like this after being sick for the last 5 days. (and if you go back to Saturday you will find me tending the fire at the BBQ a bit to long, and inhaling way to much smoke) The long and short of it, my system was over run by “cold” germs. I felt it coming on late Saturday night, and it really hit me after soccer on Sunday. (Would having had taken Airborne helped? Who knows. Should have tried.) What I got out of it was a nice 5 day rest, and 3 days of working from the house. (I am not one of those evil bastards who likes to take a DayQuil, then drag his infected ass to the office to start a plague.) Still not at 100%, I am choosing to listen to my body, take it easy for one more day, and then get back to my regular work out routine!

Fitness Test + BBQ = 6 FitLifeSF’ers with new baselines

Not a bad Satuday afternoon, if I do say so myself.  We had 10 of us at FitLifeSF HQ, where 6 peeps did their fitness test.  I’d say that was the highlight, but as fun as it was, the BBQ was way better!

Grilled Chicken, Dry Rub BBQ Brisket, grilled veggies!  Best put: It was DAMN tasty!

Thanks for everyone who made it!  We have decided to make this a montly event!  We will announce the next fitness test for early July, later this month.  So, stay tuned, and let us know if you want to join us!

(We are considering doing the test at the top of Bernal Hill!)
